When you are not getting what you want, try veiling threats beneath a thin shroud of inductive logic. Here is an example. The flower man told me, "I am sorry sir, but we won't be able to deliver your bouquet until one day after your anniversary." I told him, "Well, one day never killed anybody. However, you are not just anybody and I am not one day!"
